Pet passport - Microchip - Health certificate
The
EU-regulation 998/2003
from 26.5.2003 rules the travelling, crossing the border and the
import of pets.
Each cat must have:
 | EU-pet passport: §3b and §17 section 2 |
 | Microchip: § 4 |
 | When the cat comes from a country listed in Appendix Part C and
Appendix Part B Section 2, it also must have a health certificate. |

EU-pet passport
The vaccination passport is ruled in EU-regulation 998/2003 § 3b and § 17
section 2.
The
EU-regulation 803/2003
from 26.11.2003 defines, how the pet passport must be.
The EU-pet passport exists in all languages.

The entry for the cat
must be correct and describe the cat exactly! |

Take care to take a
microchip from a well-known company.
Take care with American producers and systems.
Otherwise you must carry the reading device always with you. |

Concerning the
period of validity there has been changed something at
least. When in No (2) the date, until when the vaccination is
valid, is entered, the cat must not be vaccinated every year any
more. When vaccinated for the first time, the vaccination
against rabies is considered to be effective and to be valid after
21 days.

Microchip
The microchip is ruled in EU-regulation 998/2003 § 4:
 | The microchip (= transponder, as it is called in the regulation)
must comply with ISO-Norm 11784 or with the Appendix A of
ISO-Norm 11785. |
 | If the microchip is not conform with these ISO-norms, you have
to provide the reading device by yourself and have to carry this
device always with you. |
 | Tattoos are permitted until 2011. |

Special rules for certain countries
 | Pay attention to special rules for Ireland, Sweden, Malta
and the UK:
Serologic Test (against rabies) still necessary until 3.7.2008.

 | Pay attention to the special rules for Finland:
Treatment (respective vaccination) against ticks and ringworm must
be certified in the Health Certificate. |

Health Certificate
The
EU-regulation 824/2004 from 01.12.2004 rules the health
certificate.
The health certificate exists in all languages.
 | This certificate is necessary for EU-countries with special
rules. |
 | You need this certificate also for the countries listed in
Appendix Part C and Appendix Part B section 2. |
PAY ATTENTION to the date of issue, it must not be older than 1
day, maximum 2 days.
