A cat is not a doll There is a group in dogs, called "toy dogs", what a hapless name
for dogs, which have the only function to be our companion.
If we would think consequently, our pedigreed cats should then be
also called toy cats, because they also do not have their original
function of hunting mice and rats.
It has become - unfortunately - quite a common habit to dress cats
and dogs like dolls.
There are even competitions held on cat shows and awarded prizes.
When I look on the following pictures, I become very sad and feel
very sorry for these cats.

A cat is still an animal
It seems, that quite many owners and exhibitors seem to have
forgotten, that a cat is not a child. A cat is still an animal, and
shall be treated according to the specific needs of this species.
That means, we should do everything to preserve the natural instincts
of our cats intact by providing them with an interesting surrounding
in our home.
For some owners their cat seems to substitute the children. This has
absolutely nothing to do with loving animals. It has something to do
with the Ego of the cat owner.
To project unfulfilled wishes, fantasies and dreams onto cats has
nothing to do with true love for animals.
 | A cat is an hunting animal.
Thus it is "normal" to catch mice, flies, and - YES! - also
birds, even we don't like to hear and see this. And we should
preserve this basic instinct of our cats under all circumstances by providing them the
appropriate toys and giving them the necessary time for playing. |
 | But a cat is for sure not a doll, or a mannequin.
Dressing cats reminds me on my childhood, where we dressed paper
dolls in various styles. May be, these cat owners should get
such paper dolls, which they can dress instead of their own
cats? A whole industry lives from that, selling cat cloths, like
capes and coats in all styles, caps, necklaces with brilliants,
etc. |
 | When you visit a cat show, you'll see many exhibitors with
large beauty cases - fully equipped, larger then their own.
